I quite like that Xavier Dolan won. I also like that Polytechnic won. The Jutra, this is not the Oscars. The dresses were ordinary, the style of what we see at Christmas when the petty bourgeois wish to titillate their uncles. Trogi was tailed shirt. The Jutra reward intelligence, interiority, depth of feelings, respect the difference, the demonization of violence, especially violence against women. The Jutra are the essence of our film and Quebec always absent this country, these missing men, women matriarchal men rewarded for their wealth of emotions, these men and women, these women and men who build the country-province area of comfort for all children as king-notch family policies allow them to have. Quebec cinema is us. That said, I must admit that the gala was completely missed. The punches were falling flat. The room was not responding. The facilitator has almost panicked. This said, I must say that I decided two years ago to never go to a Quebec film, history no longer rail against boredom, flatness, amateurism, naivety, lack of budget, the indigence of scenarios and disregard of the public who are the prerogative of our cinema. And French movies too, for good measure. Censure, I hate it.
After drinking the chalice that Radio-Canada has imposed on us until 10:15 p.m. hours, so I sat with an American movie completely lost: Zombieland . There, I really laughed. The premise the film is that Americans have become zombie cannibals. I thought Dick Cheney, the neo-cons, to birthers, the fanatics of the Tea Party, the Jesus freaks, the Born Again Christians, the Republicans and I basically told myself that this movie was a good metaphor for the America America.
Forget it, I never would call the Americans to Americans. First, the official name of Mexico is also the United States from Mexico. It would introduce confusion. And when we talk about Americans, we know immediately that they are 'Amaricains. It's that ... forget it.
Back to the film Zombieland. Good paint kill zombies. By mistake, they kill Bill Murray dressed as a zombie. Collateral damage, as in Afghanistan and Iraq. By the way, have you seen Redacted, Brian de Palma? There are paintings of collateral damage, in there too. Ah collateral damage ... our public knows it: their monks call this the "perverse". Do you see as "perverse" look more dangerous than "collateral damage"? That verbal inflation of the public service.
short, in Zombieland , our four heroes kill a lot of Republicans ... uh, zombies, and why? To survive, of course. But also, do not forget, a quest for fundamental, essential, for this little thing that gives pleasure, that industrial civilization has offered and will offer us more if it disappears: the Twinkies. Woody Harrelson insists find Twinkies and it will stop at nothing to that effect.
I noted in my diary: "Fighting for practical reasons, even against windmills if necessary."
